Someone I used to know

They say absence can make the heart grow fonder
Yet too much can make one stop and ponder
Has he left, or just on a break
The void left in his vain wake
Promise made, yet left incomplete
The name fades to memory's deep
Excuse, excuses - start the re-joining song
Though the shaking heads say you've been gone too long
A resurrection to inject new life
The email prompt performs like a knife
Apologies would never do
So accept this poem - from me to you

Handbrake

I've been thinking, thinking about you and me
We've been going a while, going so steady
It feels like we're stuck, stuck in middle gear
I want to talk to you, but your responses are what I fear
Stomach all a twisted, gripped by uncertainty
A pressure point, a vision of what I wish to be

I need you to take the
Handbrake of your love, gotta let it roll
Handbrake of your love, let your feelings show
Handbrake of your love, make me really know
Handbrake of your love, get ready to roll....ready to roll

I climb mountains to get you to open up
How much more do I take before I give up
Tension shifts, shifts into frustration
I need to know we're moving in the same direction
Fun that we've had is misting now for me
Look for clues from your heart, before I give completely

I need you to take the
Handbrake of your love, gotta let it roll
Handbrake of your love, let your feelings show
Handbrake of your love, make me really know
Handbrake of your love, get ready to roll....ready to roll

Weeks are torture, feeling more like years
Patience evaporates, the outline of shed tears
Is this a test? A test of my tenacity
Will it allow your heart to fully accept me?
I need a sign that we both want the same
To lose this love would only give me pain

I need you to take the
Handbrake of your love, it's time to let it roll
Handbrake of your love, make your feelings known
Handbrake of your love, should I look to go
Handbrake of your love, are we ready to roll....ready to roll

A chorus with verses

Lying in this cocoon of your love
Warmth all around me - a feeling I've dreamt of
Can this last forever, remain my reality
All I ask is for you to stay...stay....stay

Eyes flicker open, my focus falls to you
A stolen evening together, hours few
Absorbing your outline, resting, its rise and fall
Tenderness and passion, only drugs I yearn for
Involuntary separations makes me cry for more
Hours past slowly, waiting for your call

Lying in this cocoon of your love
Warmth all around me - a feeling I've dreamt of
Can this last forever, remain my reality
All I ask is for you to stay...stay....stay

I feel so secure cradled in your arms
Night after night, longing for your charms
Your disarming smile, makes me melt inside
An open book, feelings I just can't hide
Whispers reach out, caress this needy heart
Desire keeps on building, why must we be apart?

Lying in this cocoon of your love
Warmth all around me - a feeling I've dreamt of
Can this last forever, remain my reality
All I ask is for you to stay...stay....stay

Mature lust - part deux

Will he follow if she heads to shore?
The blatancy, the consequences - the need to score?
And then what? voice screams in her head
A brief romp  - a tussled bed?
With a lighter step she heads back in
Her heart and mind retaining her 'sin'
To her confidante and stalwart she rejoins
A stirring lingers in her loins
Her lover through decades, co-explorer
One night never enough, he truly adores her
The brim  shielded his eyes as he observed the scene
Her beauty admired, beyond just him
Recognition in his eyes, the desire she craves
Her head rests next to his, hearing the waves
No words to be spoken, satisfied with her test
Hunger inflames, as he caresses her......

Mature lust

She has prepared for these moments for countless weeks
Reducing inches, ounces; troughs and peaks
Grasping former and new beauty like a prize
Waiting to glimpse other lingering eyes

Retail therapy employed to ensure
Her refined body unpacked, to be adored
Taking back the years and baggage of being mum
A size two or three lower, a tighter bum

Hair tied back to great effect
A simple necklace adorns her sleek neck
The slinky bikini she never thought she’d wear
Baring more flesh, than she would normally dare

As the sun slowly moves across the perfect sky
She starts to attract the young men’s eyes
Slowing her pace, suiting her mood
Letting them desire her, almost nude

Slipping her hand through her hair
Feathering it out, show you don’t have a care
Contented, aroused, she feels liberty
About her the men enter the sea

The performance starts, she remains completely at ease
Youth desiring her mature expertise
She stops for a moment, again unsure
The panic of her body, the functions it has endured

Though this moment passes as the sun continues its kiss
Water lapping at her thighs, feeling of bliss
Suppressing her passionate inner scream
Waiting to be a young lovers dream

His smile, beaming words of lust unspoken
Her resolve rekindled, the allure unbroken
Asking herself if this is her true wish

To be an attractive feather to catch a younger fish

Last days on the piste

soil, camouflaged by whiskers

frozen for prosperity, reappearing slowly

gravy droplets on the brilliant white table cloth

spring commences its performance

bringing colour to winters bland blanc

snow holding its grip

against the satisfying sun filled days

the late skiers on the piste one last time this season

fresh powder of weeks past, now a shimmer

scratchy ice, translucent to what lies beneath

like the season, the results are in their prepared state of transition

spring towards summer.

Life management (a flash poem)

There's always something on my list
a group of letters, an item missed
never ending it often seems
many important and trivial things
items bought, rooms rearranged
stuff that actually doesn't fit, must be changed
some tasks remain since the list was made
look tricky, attempt another day
lists on paper and in my head
when I wake, when I go to bed
a day of freedom would be bliss
mustn't forget - add to list.
